AA highlights funny festive insurance claims

24 December 2008 13:46

With Christmas merriment well upon us, car insurance provider AA has highlighted some of the more outlandish claims that are made during the seasonal period.

Among the festive car insurance claims received by the company was the case of Mr Fairclough, who was driving home with his Christmas shopping when he was hit by another driver's Christmas tree.

The tree had been badly tied to the roof and flew off at the bend, putting a dent in Mr Fairclough's bonnet and sending him hurtling into a hedge.

The AA also highlighted the sorrowful case of Mr McGuinness, who managed to drive into the back of his son's car just as they were on the way to trade it in for a new one. Needless to say that is one part exchange deal that didn't go through.

As well as raising a little seasonal cheer, the AA explained that these stories and others help to underline the importance of insurance cover at all times of the year.

Earlier this month, the insurance company warned shoppers not to leave their presents visible in parked cars, as they could become the victims of "Grinch-style" Christmas thieves.
