Building society ups cover for Christmas

Customers with one building society are to be offered an additional ten per cent in insurance cover free of charge over Christmas.
Policy holders at LV= will automatically be awarded the increase between December 15th and January 15th, covering the entire festive season.
The company has said that the reason for the increase is due to the increase amount in valuable goods that families generally have in their homes over the period.
Emma Holyer, a spokeswoman for LV= home insurance, said that comprehensive insurance is vital when you have presents within view under the Christmas tree or elsewhere in the house, which can be easy pickings for burglars.
She added that at this time of year, it is essential that homeowners check with their insurers that they are covered in the event of theft, fire or flooding.
According to the company, LV= serves over 2.5 million customers in the UK, looking after almost £8 billion in savings.
