'Butterfinger Brits' unsure of insurance

A large number of Britons are unsure of how well insured their home and its contents are, according to a new study.
An investigation by Halifax found that as many as two in five people do not know whether they are covered in the event of accidental breakage or damage.
What's more, the survey of 2,000 people discovered mishaps such as food and drink stains on the carpet are commonplace, while incidents leading to the destruction of expensive household items are not a rarity.
Senior claims manager for the group, Martyn Foulds, commented that a major part of preparing for Christmas should be making sure that your home and contents are insured against accidental damage.
Considering the economic climate, he added, no families want to have to spend more money than they originally planned due to breakages or loss of property.
home insurance from Halifax includes cover for expensive household items such as televisions, computer equipment, stereos and satellites.
