Insurance vital over Xmas, says expert

Comprehensive insurance is more important over Christmas than ever, according to one financial expert.
According to Virgin Money, while consumer spending is set to be at its lowest in 30 years over the Christmas period, sales are still predicted to total £82.3 billion.
The firm believes that with all of these gifts being stored at home, the temptation will be greater than ever for thieves to take advantage.
Grant Bather, a spokesman for the company, said that while we may be tightening our belts and reeling in our spending over the festive season, it was still a time to have fun and meet up with friends and family.
He added that this did not mean burglars ceased their criminal activity or accidents stopped happening, meaning that insurance and adequate protection were still of utmost importance.
Virgin Money currently has around two million policyholders, while the company itself offers a variety of products including home insurance, pensions and personal loans.
