Low cost maintenance can save future money

Performing quick, low cost maintenance on your car can not only prevent avoidable accidents, but can save you money on insurance.
That's according to over 50s insurer, Rias, which believes that small amounts of work on a vehicle can guard drivers against unnecessary breakdowns and accidents during the winter.
Managing director of RIAS, Janet Connor, said that a well maintained and properly cared for vehicle not only increased its safety, but also made it more economic to run.
She added that performing minor checks on factors such as tyre pressure and condition not only helped prevent major issues later on, but also avoided unnecessary risk to a no claims bonus on insurance.
Among the tips provided by the firm, some of the most valuable include keeping a jack and wheel brace handy, while a warning triangle and spare engine oil can also prove useful.
