Retailer slashes home insurance price

Credit crunched consumers may be interested to know that a major insurer is offering its home insurance package at half the normal price.
Those who obtain a quote on Standard or Finest insurance with Tesco before January 7th will receive a discount of 50 per cent.
Jim Bruce, head of Tesco home insurance, said that the offer was a good deal for customers, especially when taking the present economic situation in to account.
He added that it would also help the company's customers to save some extra money in the weeks running up to the festive period.
As an extra Christmas present, Tesco is also increasing the amount of contents insurance by ten per cent between December 1st and January 15th at no added cost.
Also today, the FSA.gov.uk">Financial Services Authority called for improvements to insurance comparison websites, stating that some could give consumers misleading expectations of their coverage.
